Spanish ex-pats: Have your say
Tuesday 15th January 2008, 8:23AM GMT.
The threat of home demolitions hangs over thousands of British ex-pats who thought they were making the dream move to Spain.
An estimated 800,000 British people own houses and apartments in Spain and many are worried about losing their homes.
They have invested their savings in second homes and retirement villas after being assured by builders they came with valid building licences – the Spanish version of planning permission.
But now they have been told the homes that have been erected are in breach of zoning regulations and must be demolished.
The central-government inspired crackdown could force homes to be bulldozed along the 1,000-mile Mediterranean coastline.
Have your moved from the West Midlands to Spain? We want to hear from you? Tell us your fears and your stories about what is happening in Spain?

Spain. First rate weather. Second rate country. Just the sort of thing that appeals to us shallow, materialistic Brits.
The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Well, they don’t get much rain anyway.
