Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Blake wants Wolves promotion
Friday 11th January 2008, 2:59PM GMT.
New boy Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is champing at the bit for a debut tomorrow after declaring himself a young man in a hurry as he checked in at Wolves.
The 21-year-old striker has come to Molineux to pursue his dream of playing Premiership football after leaving Manchester United for Plymouth 17 months ago.
But that backward step did not dim the player’s ambition and after 24 goals for the West Country club he sees the Wolves platform as ideal for getting back to the big time.
“I’m a very ambitious person and I want to play in the Premiership,” said Ebanks-Blake before his first training session with his new team mates today.
“When you are schooled at United that ambition is driven into you. I have not lost it. This is a step in the right direction as far as I’m concerned.
“The moment I came to speak to the people at Wolves I knew this was where I wanted to come.
“I don’t know whether there was any other serious interest in me, but it would not have mattered.
“I had a great feel for the place immediately. Mick is a brilliant manager and it’s a big club.”

Lets listen to your views once mick and his coaches get hold of you and you end up sitting next to FE on the bench, because you need a rest after scoreing a few goals, just heard that SW is wanted by chelsea, always said MM knows his football
Report abuse
does that mean if we dont get there by this time next season he will trigger off another clause in his new contract and leave us too???? we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it i suppose! come on lads!
We shall see if he says that after being dropped after scoring in his first few games only to be told he doesn’t track back enough.
Tomorrow is a big test, lose and I think the cries of Mick out will be filling the stands
Report abuse
i hope he can give us the goals we need so badly. its great that he has his personal goals and i hope wolves can help him achieve it.
if he can score regularly and we get eastwoods confidence back a few goals and a few wins could make a huge difference to our season top 6 priority this season as i don’t think we could catch top two for automatic promotion but you never know with a bit of luck.
i am always hoping the next game will kickstart our season and i am still waiting, so come on seb and the team just give us what we had last season with some goals please.
come on wolves!!!
And if we are really lucky the fickle fans will give him, and now the team, the support they need to pull out of the present form and battle on.
Lest we forget we are only a couple of points outside the playoffs, and a good run could easily see us challenge.
Back em from now on in, like you lot did last season, and lets see what happens.
Good luck SEB!

Gone to a club going nowhere with a manager who will destroy your promising career. Ambitious? Don’t make me laugh.
Should have come to We’re B****y Ace
Report abuse
im sure the rest of the squad and fans want that aswell…he couldt wait to leave plymouth and although i hope he does the business for us his comments would suggest loyalty isnt his watchword and he could be another camara (god forbid)..that said and not wishing to be a total downer on it….go and get us some goals and prove me wrong
Report abuse
Hungry or what! thats what we need from some of the fans as well. Look forward to seeing him play tomorrow.
7 – Jealous much? Everyone knows Sainsbury’s is better than Tesco.
Fickle fans might just be the right accusation….what sort of an impression does all the nagative comments give…..players need support. Booing and whinging will kill his confidence as well. Are they baggies in disguise..???
some of you wolves fans are so damn depressing and negative !!! will it hurt you to be positive for once ????? come on – try it , you may be pleasantly surprised
Report abuse
3 and 8. I totally agree!
We now have lots of hungry and ambitious players but if MM can’t deliver the Premiership, they won’t hang around!
I just want to remind the MM loyalists that he declared that we should be aiming for a top 2 finish this season and having now spent £6m since the beginning of August, he should deliver or go! With a team finishing 6th last season, that additional investment should be more than enough!
I hope so……….
I’ve put money on us going up….

WolvesWolves – MM doesnt care about whether Jay backtracks or not. He accepts that fact that’s the way he is.
If he wants promotion he should have signed for Albion…
Report abuse
quite amazing the turn around in the wolves “fans” beliefs, at the start of the week its all doom and gloom, now you make two signing and suddenly your promotion contenders. Granted, “HE fires blanks” is a good signing, however, you said that about Freddy, so I hope Merlin Mick lets him play in his prefered position. Good luck to him, however, personally it will take time for him to settle in with your “style of play!”
we have not got a replacement for Kights. Our midfield is not creative enough for the strikers we have.
This needs solving. Hopefully we will sign Edwards………

Run it off? He’d have had Neil Emblem & John DeWolffe playing with cruciate ligament injuries!

least he ambitious and not here for a paycheck like many in the past
3 – if someone triggered release fee im sure that means he done well n we got least 3m so could be an akinbiyi either way we either go up with the kid or get tidy profit
14- i feel sorry for you. im saying that and i took sheffutd lol

I’m sure MM didn’t drop FE for no reason. Something was not what it was supposed to be there, so I respect MM’s decision.
Let’s look at this positively. Proven goal scorer in this league, making the right noises about having a winning mentality, let’s wind him up and let him rip through the opposition.
Still beleive in MM
Report abuse
17 – im sure he will pick up the long ball in a matter of minutes baggie

For all the so called ‘fans’ who are knocking these two signings, I would much rather have a 21year old Ebanks-Blake for £1.5million than a 32year old Steve Howard for £1.5million (what Leicester have just paid). As for Edwards I don’t know much about, but then again I didn’t know much about Kightly before we signed him! And at least our manager has realised the problems and is doing something about it with these (and hopefully more) signings.
Now come on lads, it’s obvious that MM’s staying, otherwise SM would not have give him so much money to spend, so we need to back the team and back the manager. Lets show these two new signings how good the fans at the Golden Palace can be, lets raise the roof on Saturday.
Up the Wolves!!

14. You should have just given it to charity. Would have been used more wisely
Report abuse
Oi No.13
Have to take exception to what you are saying I’m afraid.
Any fan worth their salt knows full well that last years team overacheived, punched above their weight, delivered the impossible. So it’s not fair to benchmark Mick on an sixth place finish as a pure ‘given’.
Everyone knows football aint like that, if it was Man Utd would win the Prem every year. Even more so, how does this explain what is happening at Tesco’s? They sold a number of their players and are doing better for it?
If football was as simple as you’d have us beleive no-one would watch it cos it would be so formulaic as to be boring.
Just because you write something negative here doesn’t mean you are a fickle fan. It can mean that you care deeply about what you think is going wrong. I’m not keen on Elliott as a player, and have said so before, but I would never boo him and when he is on the pitch I want nothing more than for him to score some goals and win me over. I couldn’t have been happier for him when he made such a good job of that penalty he scored a few weeks ago. On the other hand, I really like Bothroyd as a player, but I have been disappointed with his last few performances. I don’t boo him though.
got look kidda!! hopefully your ambition and hunger will rub off on the rest of the team and the fans, all the wolves fans on here are to quick to be very negative even though we have splashed out over 2 mil in the last day or so.
These signings do show ambition within the club lets hope another centre half, left back and another out and out target man signs for ebanks to play off.
I think freddy will be off in the summer, obviously Mick hasn’t got much faith in him what a shame.
Come on you wolves and now lets push on
Report abuse
LET HIM LOOSE TOMORROW. Then go and get JOE LEDLEY!!

wants to play in the premiership, should have stayed at plmouth they have more chance of going up than wolves

Could someone tell LCW this is NOT the Daily Sport website?
I’ve read his rantings in the past & after what he said about Kev Phillips, all his credibility went out the window!
He should be restricted to wax crayons, perhaps sponsored by Crayola!
Happier baggie – It’s hilariously apparent how badly you are smarting from the fact that we’ve bought a quality player.
if that rant is the best you can come up with times must be hard!

there’s only one ebanks-blakes

30.
How predictable. Really what you thinking. That all fans from your lot and ours will think you’re a comedy genius?
I think we just need to strengthen the defence to be real premiership contenders. A lot is said about the lack of creativity from the midfield but without a solid base I think the midfield are afraid to leave them exposed and dont risk going forward with the attack. Thats where we miss breen and craddock.
I find it amusing how the baggie fans are so sure that they will go up this season. Everyone agrees that they are playing good football. But it is a long season and things change as Wolves found out in 2002/3. Post 31 would be well advised to hold back a bit because if you don’t get promoted you will look a fool.
This kid will be a good signing if he’s allowed to play his natural game. Lets all keep the sack mm mutterings low tomorrow for the sake of the new kid if nothing else. I know I wouldn’t be in the best frame of mind if I started a new job and the first thing I hear is people demanding my gaffer is sacked
Report abuse
30-31 IF we say bye bye to you this season we’ll wave as we go past you next season
It was always going to be difficult for us to follow on to last seasons over acheivement but I reckon another 1/2 season of consolidation will do us good
Report abuse
“ooh Blakey Blakey!”

“mick is a brilliant manager”!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we should offer joe ledley what ever he wants…pay what he wants and just sign him. thats the kind of player we NEED. Eastwood just needs one goal to get goin again, but as soon as he scores he’ll probably be back on the bench. get rid of elliot, collins, and both wards.
Yow lot mek me loff. UTS. Bescot Stdium the plce to be. LOL.
I Disagree 36. I Think we have a sound defence and although the odd penalty give-away (mentioning no names lol) they are strong and able and have a good understanding of eachothers strenths and weaknesses. we have got the best defence in the championship statistically. Hopefully Edwards will be the spark in midfield in Kightly’s absence… and when they are both there… UP THE WOLVES!!
there is a long way to go as Cardiff found out when most people thought they were going up but didn’t even make the play-offs so i wouldn’t get to cocky yet. just remember there are 2 other teams on the same points as you if u are aware of that u thicko

Lancsbaggie, sad you need to post on our page
Bitter & Twisted, shame really all that parachute money, 5M spent in the summer hardly running away with it are you and you couldnt even beat our lot!!!
LOL Sandwell Town stayin down

don’t you lot think you are a bit too excited about this new signing, after all you said the same about eastwood & what a waste of money he as been
last week proved one thing that you lot are a one man team, kites will be gone come next season, blakes will go as well (if he doe’s well) as i’m sure he has had a clause in his contract just like he did at plymouth.
A great long term signing, young, ambitious, proven at this level already at the age of 21.
I quote the plymouth manager “we was prepared to make him the highest paid player in the clubs history, but as soon as the wolves came in for him he was off”
Speaks volumes
Report abuse
Hope our new striker is good at running 40 yards with the ball, beating 5 players and smashing the ball home. If he waits for our team to lay on chances for him I suspect he will wish he was back at Plymouth.
Why did he go to Wolves if he wanted promotion?
yeh lancs baggie don’t count your chickens yet there are 3 of you all on same points.be a shame if the poor old dingles done you in the playoffs wouldn’t it. HOPEFULLY TIME TO START CLOSING THAT GAP STARTING TOMORROW
Report abuse
Nobody else has ever used a 1-8-2 formation. This is a MM speciality. All we are doing tomorrow is changing the 2 part. OK, we won’t go down using this formation, but we won’t go up either.
54 years of supporting this team, and never seen anything so pathetic, even the 4th division had more enterprise.
I wish the new players well, and hope that the Wolves “Do a shift” tactic does not damage their future careers.
Tomorrow we face a team on the “up”. They have good players and tactics dictated by a manager who is also on the up. We are going to take a thrashing, sorry, but face up to reality…
Report abuse
He can’t score if noone gets the ball to him, but good luck. I hope you’ve got an Irish accent son.

With far too many average stikers at the club who is MM going to get rid of?
1) Bothroyd – Hull / QPR / Leicester
2) S Ward – loan
3) Elliot – loan

LCW and WolvesWolves.
Oh dear….we both watched Eastenders over Christmas didn’t we.
Why else would you be so depressed.
Tell you what, you both wander off to a dark corner somewhere and end it all, and do us all a favour….Oh but please do it qietly.
Cos to be honest, with all of your depressing doom and gloom and whingeing you’ll cause us normal Wolves fans to go and end it all just to get away from your pathetic negative drivel.
Do so hope that you and your kind aren’t there on Saturday cos it’s time to end all of this moaning and slagging off and actually get behind the team. There will be plenty of time at the END of the season for comment, retort and repercussions concerning our season….But for now for god’s sake shut the **** up and get behind our team.
Do us all a favour and go and support them lot down at Tescoland.

SW11 Wolf Happier baggie – It’s hilariously apparent how badly you are smarting from the fact that we’ve bought a quality player. If that rant is the best you can come up with times must be hard…………oh yes, its a hard life being a baggie, our premiership bound team is so packed with quality we dont need to sign anyone, we are the best attacking team in the division, play the best football, have the best manager and fans………i look forward to 3.45 when the boo boys make there feelings known to magic mick, after yet another 45 minutes of apsolute dross, come on SW11 let me hear you “Boo Boo” at least you can be entertained on tv tonight and watch a property team play, or you could stick to “you have been framed” never know might even see mick on there trying to manage a team.
