TV presenter’s death ‘not suspicious’
Tuesday 8th January 2008, 10:38AM GMT.
Police today revealed the death of the actress girlfriend of Wolverhampton-born TV presenter Mark Speight is thought to be “non-suspicious at this stage” at the opening of her inquest.
Natasha Collins ‘body was found in the bath of the penthouse home the couple shared in St John’s Wood, north-west London, last Thursday.
Speight, aged 42, who was arrested on suspicion of murder and supplying class A drugs following the discovery and released on police bail until February, was not present at the hearing.
Detective Inspector Simon Whittaker, of Marylebone Police Station, attended the opening this morning at Westminster Coroner’s Court and said: “The death is deemed to be non-suspicious at this stage, but clearly the cause of death is unascertained and subject to further investigation.”
The Metropolitan Police have said a post-mortem examination yesterday was “inconclusive” and further samples and tests will be needed to determine the cause of the 31-year-old’s death.
Westminster Coroner Dr Paul Knapman adjourned the inquest until February 20.
