Wolves’ Mick joins losing team
Saturday 5th January 2008, 11:22AM GMT.
It’s a case of lose a pound, raise a pound for members of Wolverhampton Rotary Club who are taking part in a charity sponsored slim.
Since 1999, the event has raised more than £30,000. This year’s campaign was kicked off by Wolves boss Mick McCarthy at the Compton training ground.
Proceeds will go to Promise Dreams, Compton Hospice, Wolverhampton MS Therapy Centre and The Samaritans.
Mick McCarthy said: “This is a great thing because it’s for such good causes. The Rotary Club are doing this with smiles on their faces and all in the name of charity.”
The first weigh-in will be tomorrow at the Lawn Tennis & Squash Club in Newbridge Crescent from 11am until 2pm. The final weigh-in will be January 27.
Club president Peter Hand said: “This is the perfect time of year for a sponsored slim after the excesses of Christmas.”
