Victim of shooting named by neighbours
Saturday 5th January 2008, 11:22AM GMT.
The man who was injured in a shooting incident which badly shocked residents in a quiet Dudley street has today been named locally as Glenn Johnson.
Neighbours in Park Road, Woodsetton, described the terror of the incident yesterday which left the victim with head and stomach injuries.
Neighbours today named the victim as Mr Johnson, believed to be a 35-year-old scrap dealer.
Mr Johnson was threatened by two thugs who stole his briefcase before speeding off in a car in the direction of Coseley.
Police said he was in a stable condition at Dudley Russells Hall Hospital.
Officers sealed off Park Road between Sedgley Road and Park Close to enable a forensic team to scour the scene for clues following the gun shots.
One neighbour, who did not want to be named, described running over to help Mr Johnson after shots were fired.
“You can’t believe something like this would happen on your front doorstep,” he said.
Another resident said of Mr Johnson’s family: “They are just a really lovely family.
“You can’t imagine why anyone would want to hurt any of them. It is really terrible that something like this has happened.”
