Cooper fires Ash into semi-final

Saturday 5th January 2008, 2:38PM GMT.

goal.jpgOn a cold and frosty morning at east park the Ashmore inn knocked out a Battling Blakenhall to go into the semi-final of the skedgel cup

From the start the Ashmore came out played the football as we know they can but only for 10 mins then for some unknown reason stopped it was the home side who looked the better outfit.

Blakenhall played the long ball game as they tried to get behind the Ashmore back four time and time again.

In one attack the ball hit the arm of Danny Pugh the ref pointed to the penalty spot Stevens tuck the penalty kick and Cooke the Ashmore keeper saved it but could only push it out for Stevens to score from the rebound.

At Half time 1-0 down the Ashmore had it all to do.

Manager Padir Brewster had words with the team and shuffled the pack around in the second half things looked a lot better as the cheesemen played the football we know they can play.

Mark Cooper scored a hat-trick making it 30 so far this season and goals from Carl (son of Padir) Roger his 21st goal, Mincher Ward got 1, Lee (pretty boy) Onions add 1 and Captain Hale made the final score Ashmore 7 Blakenhall 3.

After the game Ashmore boss Padir Brewster said “we truly are gods chosen children as we should have been at lest four down at Half time”.

When asked did he think Blackenhall could have won he replied if Blackenhall had dreamed of beating us they would have apologised to us when they woke up.
