Albion face an unwanted FA Cup replay after Ishmael Miller headed them to a draw at Charlton.

The promotion chasing Championship teams played out a 1-1 draw with both goals arriving before half-time.

And manager’s Tony Mowbray and Alan Pardew now both face the prospect of an extra match on an already hectic fixture list.

But a draw was fair enough from a game which threatened on several occasions to get going but never quite took off.

Mowbray made four changes to his team with leading scorer Kevin Phillips the highest profile man to find himself rested.

And the reshaped Baggies team got off to the worst possible start when they conceded the opening goal after less than a minute.

It was a messy affair with a right-wing cross by Lloyd Sam not dealt with at the far post by Leon Barnett and Carl Hoefkens.

It dropped to Zheng and he made no mistake with a shot on the turn that defeated Dean Kiely on his return to his former club.

The first half was typically open with the recalled Albion mid-field duo of Filipe Teixeira and Chris Brunt looking particularly lively for the visitors.

But Albion also looked vulnerable at the back and Charlton forward Izale McLeod could have punished them with some better finishing.

However, it was Albion who scored next with a goal of high quality.

Robert Koren found Brunt whose skills took him past Yassin Moutaouakil.

And he produced a brilliant cross for Miller to head home.

The second half was extremely untidy with neither team able to find top gear.

But Charlton substitute Chris Dickson missed a great chance to win it for his side late on.

He met a Grant Basey cross at the far post but he failed to connect properly with his header and Kiely stopped it on the line.

A result the baggies didn’t want, a draw was no good for both teams. We should win the replay at the baggies, and hope it inspires to greater effort in the league.

3 Jon Dory. If we where that awful how bad where Charlton they did not beat us. If we do lose at home its no big deal the magic of the cup ended when Man U failed to compete its a nothing trophy now.

no injurys no bookings no extra time and I could not care less if we are knocked out of the cup

    Not bothered about this competition.
Steve Coppell has said it all.

Too many games coming thick and fast lately, which perhaps is an indication of why we have gone off the boil a little.
This is of course in comparison to our former levels of sheer brilliance.
I think now we are just brilliant

Would rather have promotion anyday than a cup run and your right Baggie Boy all the “BIG” Teams put out weakened sides anyway so its going to turn into the Cola Cup in no time at all. As for all the Wolves fans on this page, you have won one game against Cambridge hardly Man Utd or Arsenal are they!!!! and it just proves what we already know, your a one man team with Knightly your nothing.

Although the replay is unwanted, another game undefeated is important. Confidence is everything in football. Get up to the replay Baggies fans and show that you support your team. Let’s get to the next round and hope for a premier team ( if any are left) to see how good we are, not necessarily by the result but as a footballing team.
