Hundreds of steam enthusiasts flocked to a popular South Staffordshire tourist attraction to see a Victorian pumping station in action.
Staff at the Bratch Pumping Station in Wombourne were up early for the Yuletide steaming.
The Grade Two-listed venue, built in 1895 by Bilston Corporation, is one of only 50 remaining steam pumping stations in England.
It comprises a Gothic-style “fairy castle” pumphouse with two huge vertical steam engines, which were used until the 1960s.
The main 400-tonne, 60ft high, steam engine was renovated over five years by Lanesfield engineer Len Crane, now the chief engineer.
