Dream home couple tie the knot
Thursday 27th December 2007, 11:41AM GMT.
A couple who won their dream home on a TV game show have finally tied the knot – more than four years after they pledged to get married.
Adrian Wright announced he would marry his long-time partner Louise Harrison after they became the proud owners of a £90,000 three bedroom semi-detached in Willenhall, now worth £140,000 through the Hot Property show.
The couple, who have two children, finally exchanged their vows at a ceremony attended by close family at Walsall Register Office last weekend, after a long engagement of more than 12 years.
They appeared on the Channel Five show, hosted by Alice Beer, in 2003 where they needed to guess the value of a home they wanted in John Riley Drive.
As part of the TV show they were shown two other houses in Walsall and Cannock, but favoured the one in Willenhall because it was nearer to their friends and family.
The family, who were living on the third floor of a two bedroom council flat in Essington at the time, were asked to estimate the price and were flabbergasted when their guess fell within the allowed £500 margin of the right price of £88,950. The house is now valued at around £140,000.
Louise, aged 38, said: “When he was asked on the programme Adrian promised in front of everyone that we would get married, but we just haven’t got around to it until now. We only booked the wedding nine weeks ago, so it was a rush getting everything organised, but it went well and was one of the happiest days of our lives.
“We were engaged more than 12 years so it has taken a while but was definitely worth it. We still love the property and have done a lot of work on it since to make further improvements.”
Block paver Adrian, aged 35, and his new wife Louise enjoyed a lavish wedding reception at The Terrace Restaurant in Brownhills before a party with friends at Great Wyrley Football Club. They live with their children Jack, eight, and Ellie, six, but have had no time to consider a honeymoon as their wedding fell so close to Christmas.
