New Stourport Swifts boss Neil Hunt has wasted no time in bringing in new players after suffering defeat during his first match in charge.

The Pershore manager has bolstered the squad by bringing in Nathan Dukes from Cinderford, Duncan Willetts from Rushall Olympic and Richard Tomkins during his first week at the helm.

Dukes can operate in either a central midfield or central defensive role and is well known to Hunt, having played for him before at Malvern, while Tomkins is a left-sided player, who can play at left-back or midfield and has also served under Hunt before. 

Willetts, meanwhile, will require no introduction to Swifts fans, as this will be the striker’s fourth spell with the club.  

Hunt said of the defeat to Rushall after watching his side in a competitive match for the first time: “To be fair we competed very well for 65 minutes and up until then it could have gone either way. We made a couple of mistakes and our heads dropped and it was all over. 

“For an hour we looked okay. We competed but we didn’t get our goal and we looked a bit tired in the last 10 minutes.”

“It was my first game in charge, so it was the first time I’ve seen the lads in an actual match. 

The defence looked ok, but the midfield lacked a bit of creativity and we might be lacking a bit of fitness. 

“We’re also lacking a goalscorer,” admitted Hunt.

We need a poacher up front and a creative midfielder, but overall I’m not too despondent.”

“We’ve got no match (after today) on Boxing Day or on the 29th, so the Rothwell match becomes all important.”
