Police announced this morning they had launched a murder inquiry following the death in Rowley Regis.

The 19-year-old man died in Russells Hall Hospital following what is believed to be an attack outside The Chaplain public house just before midnight last night.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Police in West Bromwich have launched a murder investigation after a 19-year-old man died following an incident outside a pub on Dudley Road, and nearby on St Giles Avenue, in Rowley Regis. Inquiries are ongoing.”

Ambulance crews are believed to have been alerted by a call from a member of the public.

Claudine Weeks, of West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “We were called to the scene at 11.50pm and took a man to Russells Hall Hospital.

“He was suffering from head injuries and was unconscious.”

This happened less than half a mile from my home!!!. It’s a tragedy. How can a Friday night drink end in so many lives being ruined. A 19 year old lad has had his life TRAGICALLY ended, and the person who comitted this act has also probably lost his life as he knows it to this incident. To see the flowers is so upsetting,19 years old and gone.. Both mine and my partners thoughts are with Richard’s family.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Richard. Our thoughts are with the rest of our family at such a darkened time. We cannot begin to imagine how we are going to begin to accept what has happened, yet accept it we must in order to begin to pick up the remnants of what we have left and move forward.

At times like this it is worth remembering the losses during war and more importantly understanding that even after such terrible events people are able to move forward.

If you were at Chaplin’s or have learned of anything that may help police to identify the other people involved please help our family and contact

Emzigal what is the purpose of you trying to spread malicious false information about Richard? What are your motives?
