Street star tribute to Noddy
Monday 10th December 2007, 11:46AM GMT.
Noddy Holder was given an early Christmas present when his name was officially added to Birmingham’s Broad Street Walk of Stars, to the cheers of thousands of fans.
The Walsall-born entertainer was feted during the Broad Street Canal Boat Light Parade last night. The 61-year-old former Slade frontman waved to the huge crowds which lined the Brindleyplace towpaths from the National Indoor Arena to the Mailbox to catch a glimpse of him sailing on a glam rock-themed narrowboat.
He was presented with his star by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councillor Randal Brew, who declared the occasion Noddy Holder Day. Noddy said: “I love ya all to bits. This is my old stomping ground, I grew up round here. Merry Christmas everybody.”
After the presentation the crowds were treated to a fireworks display. The parade featured 19 boats. Lesley Luckett, of Dudley, said: “We came to visit the German market, but this was a bonus.” Stuart Evans, of Sedgley, said: “This is great.”

Birmingham must be stuggling for stars to go on their walk of fame, if they have to start to take people who where born in Walsall to fill it up.
What’s wrong with people like Niki off the XFactor?

Who?
Maybe they want people who have had more than five minute careers.

Red: They are certainly NOT struggling, this Walk Of Stars Initiative by the BID is for people from the West Midlands who have made a signifiant contrbution to the area.
Slade did that, couldn’t see Niki achieving the same success that Slade enjoyed, including 6 no 1′s, 3 of which went straight to No 1.
Or the fact that Dave Hill & Don Powell 1st started the band over 40 years ago and still tour, can’t see Niki singing in 40 years time can you?

Yes nice one for nod,But what about the rest of the group? There of would be NO Noddy Holder with out SLADE,and,NO SLADE without Noddy Holder. So how come the rest of the group do not get the star. I still am ,as always will be a huge fan of SLADE but i still think this should be for ALL the group!!!!! K.O.R
