Midlands Premier sides Lichfield and Bridgnorth both suffered battling defeats in a curtailed hockey programme this weekend.
Struggling Bridgnorth were beaten 3-1 by Coventry & Warwick, while Lichfield went down 2-0 to Olton & West Warwick.
In Midlands One, Walsall’s relegation fight suffered a blow as they lost 5-1 to Warwick. Barry Guest’s goal couldn’t prevent them from going down to their eighth defeat of the campaign.
In the West Midlands Premier, Finchfield lost to Kidderminster. Two goals from Matt Edwards sealed it.
Old Wulfs were the division’s big winners – ending a run of four defeats with a comprehensive victory over Whitchurch.
Neil Dillon handed them a first-half lead, and despite being pegged back by a freak penalty corner equaliser they snatched the points thanks to Richard Saunders and Tom Pickersgill.
In West Midlands One, third-placed Old Halesonians scored a 3-2 win against Newtown. A pair of goals from Chris Hill – and one from Chris Whiley – cancelled out strikes by Neil Godsell and Nick Bradley.
Bromsgrove and Bloxwich shared four goals and the points while West Bromwich lost 2-1 to Old Silhillians.
In Midlands Two Kingswinford won 7-1 against Barlaston – with a hat-trick from Harpreet Hundel. Stafford beat Chaddesley 4-0 while Aldridge lost 3-0 against Kynoch.
Other results: Kingswinford II 1 Old Wulfs II 13; Old Halesonians III 4 Old Wulfs III 1; Old Wulfs IV 5 Leek VI 2; Telford & Wrekin VI 0 Old Wulfs V 6.
