Arrest as car lands on roof

Saturday 1st December 2007, 10:34AM GMT.

A man suffered severe head injuries and another was arrested after a car crashed through a wall and ended up on its roof in the front garden of a Wolverhampton house.

The driver, described as an Asian man in his teens or early 20s, was taken away by police following the crash in Spring Road, Ettingshall, just before 3.20am today.

No other cars were involved and the injured man, believed to be white and around the same age, was taken to Wolverhampton New Cross Hospital.

The house’s owner Kuldip Sanghera, aged 54, awoke when he heard a loud bang and saw the red Ford Fiesta had crashed through his 2ft high wall and landed in his front garden.

Debris and blood were still on the ground today.

Mr Sanghera said: “I am thankful that the car did not crash into my house.”

Neighbour Paul Jones, aged 42, is counting the cost after a brick from Mr Sanghera’s wall hit his Mazda MX5, smashing the windscreen and damaging the bodywork.
