Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Homes near tip plan
Tuesday 27th November 2007, 7:00PM GMT.
More than 300 new houses could be built on the site of a former toilet roll factory in Darlaston, bordering a former rubbish tip.
The former AP (UK) factory, which has been empty for several months, would be knocked down under plans to regenerate the land which borders Heathfield Lane West and Moxley Road.
Despite its closeness to the former Moxley Tip, locals believe the 321 houses, which would include a number of three and four storey family properties, would be quickly snapped up as people try to get a foot on the property ladder.
Fly-tippers have continued to dump rubbish at the site which closed in the mid 1980s.
Planners have already ruled the heart of the tip will be turned into a wildlife site rather than be used for houses because the ground is contaminated.
However all the 50 acre plot of land surrounding the tip, including the AP (UK) site is considered suitable for development.
Ward Councillor Paul Bott said: “More houses are desperately needed in this area which is within easy reach of places such as Walsall and Wolverhampton and I think these issues will outweigh any slight environmental concerns people may have.”

Now learning that a Toilet Roll factory in Darlaston has closed down is really interesting news. Does this mean there are less people wiping there bums than previously? The mind boggles.
