Sports opened up this black country derby playing some neat forward and really taking the game to Gornal but it was the away side that opened the scoring early though when Sports were quality of given the ball away in the middle of the pitch and Mike Perks for the away side punished the mistake with a well taken goal.

The next 15minutes saw Sports rip into Gornal and equalised when a thru ball from Grant Joshua found Ant Cox who turned and curled a dipping shot into the roof of the net from fully twenty yards out.

This rocked Gornal but when Chris Raybone picked up the ball inside his own half there seemed to be no danger but the young winger just kept on running going past several players with ease then on reaching the penalty area he unleashed a shot that flew into the top corner of the net for what was a excellent individual goal.

It was all Sports now and when Tom Isherwood was fouled in the box after a neat run and turn Grant Joshua picked the ball and placed it past the keeper for the Sports third goal from the penalty spot.

Numerous chances went begging after this but Sports were happy with an interval lead of 3 1.

Sports team talk aired caution but they started as they had finished with the home team tearing Gornal apart with fast flowing football and when Grant Joshua was fouled 20 yards away from goal the resulting free kick was another wonderful strike when Lee Lough stepped up and curled a shot directly past the Gornal keeper.

Gornal were then reduced to ten men late in the game when Leigh Pardoe Gornal’s centre half lost all discipline and was dismissed for foul and abusive language after injuring himself in a tackle leaving the ground in a two footed lunge at Sports centre forward Ross Harris.

This was a terrible tackle and if the defender had caught the forward he would have broken his leg.

Gornal scored a late consolation goal that made the scoreline a bit more respectable for Gornal but they were out played for large periods of this game in a very impressive display from the home side.
