Saturday 24th November 2007, 11:44AM GMT.

A man was fighting for his life today after a head-on crash between a car and a lorry in Pattingham.

The 22-year-old driver had to be airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital following the smash in West Beech Road at 5pm yesterday.

He suffered head, chest and abdominal injuries as well as severe leg fractures after being trapped by his legs. Emergency services had to use a West Midlands Police’s helicopter.
