Singing AA man wants hit
Thursday 22nd November 2007, 11:22AM GMT.
Singing AA man Herrol Donchez who serenades motorists as he fixes their cars is releasing a single in a bid to bag the coveted Christmas number one spot.
Herrol, from Penn, in Wolverhampton, is hoping he can beat the X Factor winner to be top of the pops.
Rap anthem Christmas Partay is from his second album Wind Up Ya Bumper and sums up the festive season, from preparations in November right through to New Year’s Day.
The 50-year-old started singing to customers after lifting the spirits of a customer who had broken down one day.
He also performs live with 10-piece band Soul Vibe Train.
He said: “The guy said to me that when I arrived he was feeling low because he was late for a meeting but after hearing me singing away to myself, he felt like he hadn’t broken down.
“So after that I started singing to the members as I worked and they loved it.”
Herrol’s performing name is Donchez and his real name is Herrol Dacres.
The busy father-of-four, who has worked for the AA for 19 years, has been in demand since news of his musical talents became public.
He has appeared in a short promotional film for TV with radio presenter James Whale entitled, Just The Job, and has also been interviewed on GMTV.
He describes his Christmas song as a fusion of hip hop, reggae, calypso and pop, adding: “They have got the Christmas number one all wrapped up with the X Factor, but if this song ever gets airplay, they have got a fight on their hands.
“There is nothing like it out there. Most Christmas songs are laid back but this is a ripping rap tune. It’s a bombshell – a real spanner in the works.
“Music is there to make people happy and I hope lots of them enjoy Christmas Partay. It sleighs.”
The track can be downloaded on iTunes via the website www.donchez.co.uk and Herrol will be trying to get airplay starting with Beacon Radio.
He added it was his “dream” to secure a record deal.

I wouldnt mind being sang to if I broke down, I think it would make anyone feel better – but only if they could sing, not like most of the X factor finalists.
