Hunt on for luxury car thieves
Tuesday 20th November 2007, 6:27PM GMT.
Two terrified drivers were ordered out of their limited-edition, high-performance cars by a gang of robbers who struck in Great Barr and Streetly.
The ice-blue Subaru Impreza cars worth up to £25,000 were stolen within 10 days of each other.
In the most recent attack a woman driver was pushed out of the way by a gang as she pulled up in The Avenue, Nether Hall Park, Great Barr, on Wednesday.
Four men, whose faces were covered by hoods, then jumped into her car, registration WJ54 RGX, and sped off at around 6pm.
At 7pm on November 5 a man was ordered to get out of his car and hand over the keys as he reversed out of his drive in Inglewood Grove, Streetly.
The three hooded car-jackers then fled in his vehicle, registration BVO4 RMX.
Police said they have no descriptions of the offenders to circulate to drivers as their faces were covered. Neither car has been recovered.
West Midlands Police spokeswoman Catherine Preece said it was thought the thefts were linked and appealed for witnesses. They are the latest incidents of thefts of high performance and expensive cars across the area.
In September, thieves posing as genuine car buyers tricked two unsuspecting owners in Pheasey and Hatherton in Walsall into letting them behind the wheel before speeding off in their vehicles.
Both victims had advertised their cars, a £16,000 red Vauxhall Astra and a silver BMW worth £9,000, in a weekly car trade magazine.
Anyone who can help trace the offenders is urged to call Walsall CID on 0845 113 5000.
