Smile back on manager’s face

ashmore.jpgOn Sunday the Ashmore Inn made their long awaited visit to Humpshire (Willenhall Town) where they met Huff UK.

It was a quiet cold morning when the cheese men arrived there and to our surprise there were lots of cars but no opposition players around, then one of the boys said “hey come and have a look at this” so we popped our heads around the corner and there they were, Huff UK all kitted up and warming up.

Our lads warm up at this time was a Benson and Hedges and a good belch.

Then in the dressing room Huff UK could be heard screaming, shouting and banging as they were building themselves up for the challenge that was ahead of them.

When they entered the field of play they glared at us in an intimidating way as a lion would while stalking its prey.

But the Ashmore had no worries about that as they may have looked like lions but they had the hearts of wimps.

And it was the lion hearted Ashmore that came out on top.

In the first half, the Ashmore pounced on them tearing their defence to pieces with Cooper and Brown on the prowl and Rickhuss and Pugh, Cartwright and Healey guarding Lee Cookes den.

No predators were going to invade their space.

The first goal for the Ashmore came from Rogers a good through ball by Onions saw Cooper go clean past the defenders down the line who played an incredible ball to Rogers who smashed the ball home.

Huff UK did make a comeback to make it 1-1 but on the stroke of halftime, there was Rogers with a bullet header from a Cooper assist 2-1 halftime.

The second period started and the Ashmore went on an all out attack, Cooper got one for himself with some neat footwork by Mincher and Hale saw Cooper go clear through and finish his goal well.

Tony Brown got on the score sheet when he single handedly took on the home defence and went round the goalkeeper and slotted the goal home.

Lee Mincher got the finishing touches to the fifth and the travelling Ashmoronians went home with a smile on their faces after another outstanding performance from Brewsters men.
