Picture 3 is a great photo by the E&S and clearly shows De Ridder dragging his striding foot towards Laursen’s in readiness for his dying swan routine and the ref was well placed to see the incident and book him for diving.
Fair play to Shearer and co on Match of the Day for not closing ranks with the Sky Sports “experts”. He watched exactly the same replays as the other lot many times and was honest enough to admit that like the rest of us he could not see any contact.
Sky Sports just seem to have it in for refs. If that penalty had been given in such an important game Gray and co. would have slaughtered the ref, and using the very same video evidence they would have claimed it proved there was no contact between the players.

I agree totally with Chris and everyone else who saw through De Ridders attempt to fool the crowd and the officials into thinking it was a penalty. He’s not alone of course, many other players try the dragging foot routine as perfected by Ronaldo, and if the penalty had been called it could have had stark consequences on a game that was already teetering on the edge of violence. De Ridder is a better footballer than that and does not need to cheat, it does though these days seem to be the cult action to take when the chips are down, and I personally think the only way to help stamp it out is to red card any offender no matter what team he plays for or what status he might have. I pay hard earned money to watch my football and I hate the thought of losing to cheats and bad refereeing decisions.

I am not being buyost at all here but de ridder did dive for a pen and luckily the ref spotted it. What got me was glenn hoddle saying it was a poor match – well go back to London Glenn and watch te boring arsenal purs games. This one was a crackeri thought.

Hey it was a penalty did anyone not hear the ex vile biased (note rich) pundits “last word” don’t delude yourselves, and I know the over the top celebrations of the vile players contributed to the violence after the game.
