The new AVH Industries Indoor league has kicked off last weekend at Cannock Leisure Centre.

On the excellent indoor carpet defending champions Mel Evans and Lynne Pritchatt began their season with a hard fought 21 -17 victory over two time runners up Clive Pittaway and Chris Halford. 

An early count of three saw the champions start off in the right direction.

The game of the day saw last season’s runners up Craig Barker and Keith Carter just duck out 21-20 to fellow M&B Cheslyn Hay bowlers Dave Murray and Brian Preece. 

Early pace setters are Bill Pitt and Stuart Edwards who swept aside Vic Gray and David Hayward 21-11 and are chased by father and son Derek and Glyn Storer who recorded an impressive 21-13 victory over Cliff Johnson and Mick Jones.

Division two is likely to be as keenly fought with some quality doubles pairings. Nick and John Newey chasing a return to the top division were impressive in defeating Farr and Taylor from ECC 21-8, although the best result in any of the divisions was the 21- 8 victory for another father and son pairing Kevin and Darryl Handley. 

The other two victories in the division came from Alan Parsons and Keith Anderson and Deave Semper and Dave Taylor.

Division three sees the Heath Hayes duo of Phil and Mick Colbourne in the ascendancy after a 21-11 defeat of Bob Taylor and Geoff Garbett.
