Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Boss hails Wolves plan
Friday 9th November 2007, 5:57PM GMT.
Mick McCarthy today hailed Steve Morgan’s plans to transform Wolves and declared: “I’m excited about the club’s future.”
More light was shed on the first phase of the multi-millionaire’s programme to turn Wolves into a top flight club this week with his pledge to expand Molineux if the club make it into the Premiership.
The Wolves owner has commissioned specialists to draw up options for their historic home which could include boosting the ground’s capacity above the 40,000 mark and transforming their coroporate boxes.
That follows hot on the heels of Morgan pledging more cash for boss McCarthy to strengthen his team in the January transfer window.
“I am excited about the future of this club,” McCarthy said.
“Steve is very ambitious for the club and we all want to be succesful with him too. I know he’ll give me all the backing he can to try and get that success – that has been the case since day one.
“I don’t need to read the ‘papers to know Steve Morgan is backing me and the club. I already knew he was backing me and the way we’re going about things.”
So far Morgan has been happy to conduct his business behind the scenes but his words this week have put his ambitious plans for the club back in the spotlight.
They will have supporters excited about the future but the property tycoon is preaching a gradual evolution rather than a revolution. He has not sought wholesale changes and has praised the club’s existing hierachy.
“I’ve been delighted with the club on the business side. The management team at all levels is extremely competent,” he said.
“It’s a good team, a very-well run club, and there are some really good people here. The relationship between Mick, Jez and myself is every bit as good as I’d have hoped.”
He has also re-iterated his call for fans to get behind McCarthy’s promotion chasers.
“The fans can be the 12th man, no question, and the atmosphere against Bristol City was fantastic. If they can keep that up it will really help in the push for promotion.”

Steve Morgan has nothing to prove as far as business sucess is concerned. Football, whether fans like the idea or not is a very major busines in the modern world. Mr. Morgan having failed in his bid to gain control of his first love,Liverpool F.C. Has set his sights on emulating their current sucess with our repeat our team Wolves. To be a sucess in the premiership requires not just a team for one or two seasons but the stadium and money generating machine which feeds the very largest of teams with the power to compete in the world transfer market. This more than any individual, manager, chairman or player, is what in the end determines sucess or failure. For these reasons I for one applaud this plan for ground improvements and expansion. Three cheers for Steve Morgan I say!
And won’t it make them sick at the Poorthorns te-he
