The Mahindra Scorpio car is manufactured in Jalandhar, Punjab, and is believed to be the only one of its type in this country.

The Hummer-style car can seat up to eight people and took 25 days to ship over to the home of the Pal family, who live in Tipton. The family, who own Silver Line Taxis, usually only buy British-made cars but saw the Mahindra Scorpio when visiting family in the Punjab.

The smitten family decided they had to have one of their own.

As well as paying for the car itself, the Pals also had to spend more than £4,000 on shipping the vehicle over. And they paid for CCTV cameras at their home to protect it from thieves.

Koshall Pal, of Horseley Road, said the car had been attracting a lot of attention on the streets of Tipton.

Koshall Pal, of Horseley Road, said the car had been attracting a lot of attention on the streets of Tipton.

And she said her three children loved riding around town in the swish set of wheels.

“We went to India on holiday and just fell in love with it,” she said.

“We own a taxi company and normally only buy British cars.

“There is only one of these in England, there has never been a Scorpio brought into the country, it is the first to come into England.

“It took 25 days to ship over and we had to drive all the way to Ipswich to collect it.

“Everybody absolutely loves it. The neighbours have been walking past and people have been taking photos. People think it’s beautiful.”

The four-wheel drive boasts chrome alloys, double bull bars, chrome side steps and a two foot long brake-light.

The Pals did not want to reveal the exact cost of buying and shipping over the new motor, but internet quotes value a Mahindra Scorpio at up to £10,000.

“Everybody is saying well done for bringing it over here because it’s quite a commitment,” Mrs Pal added.

“It has caused quite a commotion.”

Looks a bit like a Hyundai Terracan. Sorry. Plus you wouldn’t need CCTV for that.

How exactly can it be described as “Hummer Style” by your reporter? Looks just like any other Asian built 4×4 – not a bit like a Hummer….. Come on E&S, take a close look at the accuracy of your reporting…lol

Oh, and the CCTV is probably “broadcast quality” too no doubt…

Fingers crossed it never breaks down and they don’t need any spares.

Should’ve bought something Japanese though! ;)
