About PRD United
Tuesday 6th November 2007, 1:06PM GMT.
PRD United were set up in the early part of 2006 by Andy Leary and his wife Alison.
Using a grant from the Birmingham Foundation Trust, sponsorship money from Prd Fasteners( from where the club name derived) and further sponsorship from Kevin & Linda Head (club parents) we achieved FA Club Charter Standard within one month of applying which is one of the quickest on record.
In August 2006 we then achieved the Walsall Sports Club Standard.
We played our first season 2006/2007 in the Walsall Junior Youth League and finished just below mid-table.
In May 2007 we competed in the Butlins Easter and Spring Festival of Football and although not finishing winners, the team conducted themselves superbly and were rewarded by winning the David Beckham Fair Play Trophy.
We then added three new players and competed in the Shire Oak 7-a-side tournament in June 2007 and finished winners beating first division teams in the process.
We are currently lying fourth in the 2nd division and have had comments from both Albion and Wolves Scouts complimenting our style of play going so far as to say that they think we should finish top.
Prd United has an under 8s team as well. They play in the Walsall Junior Youth League and are currently sitting mid-table in the 3rd division.
