Baros ‘caught at 169mph’

Saturday 3rd November 2007, 9:04AM GMT.

baros2pa3.jpgFormer Aston Villa striker Milan Baros faces a three-year driving ban after being caught speeding at 169mph in his Ferrari in France.

The offence broke the record for speeding around Lyon, set by a motorcyclist who hit 155mph in 2000.

Baros was driving on a motorway when he was caught by police, who confiscated the Ferrari and took his driving licence.

The 26-year-old, who is currently out injured, had to take a taxi back to Lyon.

Baros joined Villa for £6.5m from Liverpool in August 2005 but was a flop, scoring just nine goals in 42 Premier League games.

He joined Lyon in January in an deal which brought striker John Carew to Villa.

3 years, he should lose it for longer. Let’s hope they don’t cave in and give it him back too soon. Who do these footballers think they are?
