fishing.jpgCound Reservoir in Shropshire continues to yield some excellent catches as the week’s 7.4 fish rod average demonstrates.

Generally the trout are still lying high in the water and the week’s best catch was made by Richard Evans from Stourbridge who landed 25, all taken with CDC lures.

His brother Paul also did well to catch 16 with similar patterns.

The largest specimen was hooked by Bill Stevens from Stourport who latched into 14 including 12 lbs 9oz and 8 lb 11 oz rainbows.

Shrewsbury visitor Dave Wright also came to the fore with 17 to 4lbs on CDC’s.

The overall week’s catch was 284 rainbows and browns.

Gailey Reservoir near Cannock has still to come into top form due to weather conditions and the average catch fell slightly but Bloxwich expert Alan Nunn hooked nine rainbows to 3lbs on black lures.

Len Beckley, from Sedgley, latched into eight rainbows to 3lbs 8oz. Pete Davies (Norton) landed nine to 5lbs and Dave Prindle (Burntwood) took four to 3lbs.

Blithfield Reservoir fished quite well and produced 377 rainbows and browns for 160 anglers which averaged out at 2.5 fish.

The largest specimen was a 5lb rainbow caught by Dave Lowbridge from Brewood.

He also claimed the best bag with eight rainbows for 35 lbs 8 oz.

Heavy restocking this month should improve sport considerably at Patshull Park especially in the Lodge Bay and around the island.
