Quinn does it his way
Thursday 18th October 2007, 11:35AM BST.
From Liverpool to Las Vegas, X Factor star Ray Quinn hasn’t done too badly in his 19 years.
The cheeky chappie is in the middle of his first solo tour and last night he stopped by at Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall.

“I’ve never played Wolverhampton before,” he told the Express & Star. “But I’ve been really looking forward to it. Twelve months ago I was still in drama college and this was always my dream, forever and a day, to be up on stage singing the songs I’m passionate about.”
The songs in question are the old swing classics and last night the teenager performed a raft of classics including Fly Me To The Moon, Summer Wind and Mr Bojangles.
Accompanied by his very own big band and showgirls, he tried his best to recreate the glamour of the Rat Pack.
“I’ve been having a really good time on tour,” he said. “It’s a good family show and I perform all the songs on my album and a few surprises, like Michael Buble’s Home.”
The crowd last night was mixed, with fans ranging from screaming eight-year-olds in pink cowboy hats to elderly couples.
Jacqui and Joy Hemmings, aged 43 and 67, and Rebecca Marston, 41, came to the gig on a work night out from The Sports Shop in High Street, Kingswinford. Jacqui said: “I’ve been a fan ever since I saw him on the X Factor.”
Joy added: “He’s young and vibrant and very talented.” The award for the biggest fan of the night went to 13-year-old Emily Ledington from Kingswinford, who had snapped up nearly all of Ray’s merchandise.
She said: “I was given tickets for my birthday on June 12 and it was a really big surprise. My favourite song is My Way.”
Despite losing out to Leona Lewis in last year’s X Factor final, Ray’s has shown he can cut it on the solo stage. He said: “X Factor changed my life completely.
“After the tour, I’ll be taking a little break over Christmas before recording a new album, trying a bit of TV presenting and hopefully getting a role in the West End.”

I went and it was an excellent show! I go to a lot of concerts but usually involving bands and this was a lot better than most of those. Great songs, sang very well with all the charisma of a natural performer. Say what you will about X Factor, but it does create stars!
