BNP man kicked out

Tuesday 16th October 2007, 10:00PM BST.

wd2399441james-lloyd-bmp.jpgA Tipton BNP councillor has been kicked off Sandwell Council for failing to attend a single authority meeting in the last six months.

James Lloyd, who represented the Princes End ward, has been disqualified as a result of his absence and failing to explain why.

The councillor, first elected in 2004, was sent a letter from the authority’s chief executive Allison Fraser yesterday informing him of the decision.

In her letter, Dr Fraser said: “You last attended a meeting of the authority on April 12, 2007 when you were recorded as being in attendance at a meeting of the Employment Appeals Panel.

“During six months you have not provided reasons for your failure to attend and have not sought approval from the authority. You have now ceased to be a member of the authority.”

The disqualification will be announced to members at a meeting of the full council on October 30. Mr Lloyd said today he was not aware of the council’s decision and had been working away from home.

The BNP member was at the centre of a scandal in January when he was asked to quit as licensee of the Lagoon pub in Princes End following a string of violence.

He said today: “Since I lost the business I have been forced to take a building site job in Oxfordshire, working up to 15 hours a day. I have been coming back to Sandwell at weekends, but my phone is on 24/7 for the people who voted for me.”

The people of sandwell will understand his reasons for not being able to attend council meetings, he is human, he has to work for a living.

i know for a fact that mr lloyd has been working in oxford working 7days a week not like other sandweell mps who work at most 37hours in over payed jobs finding more ways to to fleece money from hard working people,at least we can contact mr lloyd if only by telephone and at weekends try to do that with other mps

If he can’t do the job, for whatever reason, he should make way for someone who can. The meetings are where the councillors can look after the interests of their ward residents and take part in decision-making. You can’t do that without attending.

Why did he stand when he knew he could not do the job and why did the BNP pick him for their candidate did they not interview him and ask him about his availability for council duties.

Well said John and Lena – for the two apologists at the top, you should be ashamed of yourself for your flimsy notion of what local democracy means.

And in particular, “Patriot UK”, other councillors also work, and yet they manage to attend meetings.

The BNP councillors are a bunch of losers. Take a look at the Sandwell website and look at their poor attendance – I presume it’s because they’re simply too thick to understand what’s going on. They gorge themselves on lies, and then when the chance comes for them to find out about the real world, they realise how ludicrous their “ideology” is.

If they know what the word “ideology” means, that is.

To be British is to be tolerant, reasonable, civilised and fair. By calling yourself “Patriot” I presume you mean that you are all of those things. I presume it also means supporting British trade, buying local and British produce, going on holiday in Britain and supporting British causes, such as human rights, the right to asylum in this country and democracy. I’m glad that you feel so proud of these institutions that you use Patriot as a user name.

I mean, can you understand all these BNP supporters who claim they are proud of Britain, and yet go on holiday abroad, buy imported food and goods, watch American films and listen to American music, try and undermine democracy, human rights and what’s worse, fail to understand the principle tenets of being British – tolerance, civility and fairness? No, it beats me as well.

The others just wanted him out, and were looking for any excuse. Now they have one, they’ll be hoping to fill it with another labour cronie.

When you have one BNP Councillor who thinks 911 was a conspiracy and World War 2 concentration camps didn’t actually happen and where a PR stunt?? And another now former Councillor who literally couldn’t run a pee up in a brewery – you have to wonder the mentally and the competence of this party, candidates and Councillors.

I cant help thinking I have been taken for a mug when I originally voted BNP I so hoped they would be the party for the people in Sandwell. So far all I have witnessed is a bunch of sheep, with no opinions or alternative solutions – in a Party born out of racism and bitterness – we can do it better, we can represent the people! – They cried last election – from Oxford pull the other one!

I love Jo’s comment, how can you want someone out – who isnt home in the first place? and has for the “they be hoping to fill it with another Labour cronie” well the they are the general public – its called democracy.

Whoever is elected, the people of the borough are invariably let down.
Politcians, whether they be local, national or international, look after themselves and their interests.
Politicians, whether they claim to be left, right or centre, will change their views overnight if it helps their own selfish agendas.
People should shout out as individuals.
Democracy doesn’t end when you put a cross on the ballot paper.
Councillors and MPs should be questioned, and embarrassed by the people whom they are letting down.
I mention democracy – I am far from confident that democracy is evident in our country. The postal vote has cast a huge cloud over the issue. The situation stinks.

I agree with Andrew. He shouldn’t have stood for council if he couldnt attend the meetings.

Anyway good riddance to bad racist rubbish!

In reply to Paul Tipton the BNP has never commented on the concentration camps, let alone denied they existed. If you ever attended a meeting you would see the common sense policies they have, not the pc crap that has ruined this country.

I used to be a bnp supporter untill i attended their meetings. There were never coherent policies discussed, just incoherent racist taunts made by illiterate organisers.I would never vote for bnp again and i urge others not to do so .

There would have been no shame in either explaining his absence or resigning from the council, but since he failed to do either of these things, and failed to turn up to a single meeting in a six month period he’s really got no excuse.

Regarding the comments made by various contributors regarding the BNP, you should really get to know the subject better, you criticise and make comments which have no bearing on BNP policy, therefore you you are either misinformed, or just plain trouble makers. The BNP is not racist, they simply have a policy regarding Islamification, so please get your facts right, better still have a good read of the manifesto and study the website.
