Monmore set for spectacular

Sunday 14th October 2007, 10:02AM BST.

Nicolai KlindtWolverhampton’s big speedway individual event takes place tomorrow night – with one eye firmly fixed on the future.

The Banks’s Olympique features a unique handicap system where a rider who wins a race then goes back 20-metres in his next outing.

Nicolai Klindt, the only confirmed starter in next season’s Monmore Green Elite League squad, takes his place in the meeting after signing for the club in August.

The 19-year-old Dane was chased by a number of clubs before pledging his future to Wolverhampton.

That news came just a year after 16-year-old Tai Woffinden chose the Monmore outfit ahead of every other top flight team and after a year with Premier League Rye House he is expected to make occasional appearances in the Elite as part of his development next year. Both riders are joined by 17-year-old Swede Ludvig Lindgren, younger brother of top Wolves star Freddie.

Coventry duo Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls are included along with in-form Birmingham skipper Jason Lyons as well as top Parrys International Wolves stars Peter Karlsson, Billy Hamill and Lindgren.

After the 20-heats of action there will also be a firework display which always goes down well after this event.

Promoter Chris Van Straaten said: “There is no doubt riders like Nicolai and Tai are the future of the Wolverhampton team and it will be interesting to see how they get on in the Banks’s Olympique.

“I’ve heard good reports about Ludvig Lindgren, particularly from his brother of course.”

“It’s a terrific all-round package of entertainment with the fireworks immediately after the meeting.”

Line-up: Tai Woffinden, Billy Hamill, Freddie Lindgren, Chris Kerr, Peter Karlsson, Chris Louis, William Lawson, Daniel Nermark, Scott Nicholls, Jason Lyons, Ludvig Lindgren, Casper Wortmen, Kenneth Hansen, Nicolai Klindt, Adam Shields, Chris Harris.

Never mind the fireworks after the meeting, supporters want to see fireworks next season and not the damp squids we have been treated to over recent years. CVS try a rocket or 2 up a few backsides including your own and produce a league winning team, we are all tired of watching no-hopers!

Steve… you have got to give the youngsters all a fair chance cos they are not all no-hopers so think about what you say before you say it and also, no wonder some of them don’t do well if they are reading comments like yours because it knocks there confidence down!!! So shut up and leave Chris to make his decisions on helping towards the future of British speedway, cos if someone doesn’t help the future of the British speedway there will be no more speedway in Britain the way that it’s going at the moment. Another thing Steve… if you are tired of watching so called no-hopers at Wolves, then why bother coming??? !!!
