Greenhill 2 Shawbury United 3
Friday 12th October 2007, 9:10AM BST.
Greenhill’s JW Hunt Cup match against Shawbury from the West Midlands premier league ended in dramatic fashion with two goals being scored in injury time.
The game started well for Greenhill with Darren Wothers scoring a quality goal after just 5 minutes after he cut inside a Shawbury defender on the corner on the box and curled the shot into the top corner from 18 yards.
Disciplined defence by Greenhill sent them into the second half 1-0 up but they could have extended their lead to 2-0 when Adam Wooldridge shot marginally wide under pressure.
Greenhill had to soak up Shrawbury pressure after the break and the visitors finally levelled the scores after 65 minutes before taking the lead on 75 minutes.
Greenhill fought back though and equalised deep into injury time after Adam Wooldridge slotted past the keeper from a wide angle.
Unfortunately for Greenhill they conceded a third goal with virtually the last kick of the game after Shawbury were awarded a controversial free kick.
