The 6-2 win in South Yorkshire helped Cannock record their fourth straight win – and send them top of the table.

They made a superb start, with Lucy Spencer converted a penalty stroke after two minutes to give her the first of a hat-trick.

And they went from strength-to-strength with Becky Blakey and Lucia Gascoigne helping them to a 3-0 lead after ten minutes.

Hallam rallied and got two goals back but it was Gascoigne and Spencer who had the last word to help Cannock to a big win.

In Midland B Stourport continued their 100 per cent start to the season with a 2-0 win over Boots. Liz Cooke and Jodi Vincent scored the goals but there was good play in defence too, with Harriet Burns turning in a man of the match performance.

In Staffs Division One, Bloxwich were beaten 2-1 by Stafford in a game of two halves. Bloxwich started strongly and had a goal from Jane Starczynski to give them the lead – but Stafford came on strong in the second half and scored two goals to give them the win.
