Wyrley Ladies 3 Tamworth 1
Wednesday 3rd October 2007, 3:33PM BST.
West Midlands Regional Women’s League div.1 North Wyrley Ladies FC 3 Tamworth Lionesses 1
Wyrley remained unbeaten and top if the league when they won this home game against Tamworth Lionesses but it was the away side that scored the first goal and gave them a wake up call, they were constantly on the attack but were continually caught off side but when Stacey Arnold was brought down in the box the penalty awarded was taken and scored by her to bring it level.
Arnold got the ball again, this time on the wing, crossed and was picked up by Jade Ward whose perfectly struck shot gave their keeper no chance.
Arnold was there again for the third goal when she picked up the ball on the half way line, ran past two defenders and with only the keeper to beat calmly slotted the ball home.
It was 3-1 at half time and that was the way it remained, Wyrley had loads of chances but just couldn’t score any more and Emily Lloyd in goal made a couple of good saves from Tamworth but Wyrley never looked under pressure and comfortably controlled the game.
Wyrley’s player of the match was Megan Cook.
Next game is a tough one, away to Bradwell Belles.
