redball.jpgTwo set to battle it out for top spot In only the second week of the snooker season, two teams have demonstrated they are likely to be sharing top billing in the Stourbridge & District Premier Division as both completed 5-0 maximums.

Baggeridge Social A beat Amblecote Institute A, while Brierley Hill SC A took all five frames at Pockets.

Dibdale SC A did well to come away from Hot Shots with a 3-2 win, while Simon Hickman’s break of 46 was the highlight of Kinver A’s 3-2 success against Harts Hill Social. Rob Pitt was in top form for Norton Social as they completed a 3-2 victory over Bearwood Cons.

Division 1: Stourbridge Institute B continued their great start in the First Division with a 4-1 success away to Netherton Liberals.

Kingswinford Cons A have also begun well and came away from Kingswinford RBL with another 4-1 win.

Baggeridge Social B retained their unbeaten start, but the performance of the week was probably that of Langley Bowling Club, who came away from Brierley Hill Snooker Club C with all five frames.

Amblecote RBL A won again 3-2 at Wombourne.

Division 2: Amblecote Institute D look set for another successful season in the Second Division, winning 4-1 on the tables of Kinver C, who had won their first game 4-1. Only Steve Nicholls could pull a frame back for Kinver.

The veteran Stourbridge Institute D brigade – average age in excess of 70 – did very well to come away from Amblecote Institute C with a 4-1 win to share top spot with their own C team, who had Paul Garbett to thank for his win in the decider at Kingswinford Cons B.

Dibdale SC B rediscovered their form to beat Pensnett Libs A 4-1, and Amblecote Institute F, without a win at all last season, celebrated a 3-2 success against their E team.
