Wolves owner Steve Morgan has hit back at critics who have branded his actions on a reality TV show as “idiotic”.

Morgan is appearing in the four-part series Millionaire’s Mission, where eight millionaires swap their luxury lifestyles to help a poverty-stricken Ugandan village.

But while his team-mates were seen bonding in last week’s debut programme, Morgan broke ranks immediately to forge ahead with his idea to supply the villagers with running water.

In tonight’s show he will be seen carrying on with his efforts, which have come under fire from internet bloggers.

The Express & Star can also today reveal how next week he will make a dramatic early exit from the show before the project is finished.

In an email fired off in response to criticism on a website, Morgan insists he made the right decisions.

He says he immediately struck a deal with the Ugandan government to create water supplies for more than 3,000 people after leaving the programme.

He wrote: “Having spent three weeks living with the villagers of Karorwa and Nyakasiru, I know how important water is.

“The very reason I took part in the programme was to visit the “real” Africa and do something to help.

“I am funding the construction of two water systems which I designed whilst in Uganda. Two reservoirs are currently under construction, a solar-powered pumping scheme will be installed early in November and there are 13.5 kilometres of water main being installed.

“All together, 3,500 villagers and five schools will have water within a short walking distance of their homes by Christmas. This work is separate from the projects on the programme.”

Morgan, who is worth £450 million of the contestants’ shared £600 million wealth, stars alongside Wigan pub tycoon Tony Callaghan and internet entrepeneur Seb Bishhop.

Millionaire’s Mission is on Channel 4 tonight at 9pm.
