Gwen Stefani at the Birmingham NIA on the latest leg of her worldwide Sweet Escape TourThe second city swung to the sound of Stefani last night as the singer hit the Birmingham NIA on the latest leg of her worldwide Sweet Escape Tour.

A tardy start could have led a packed arena to ask “What You Waiting For” but there was No Doubt that once under way, she’s a class performer.

Stefani arrived on stage in a giant jail cell for the opening title track. That was then replaced by a giant safe for Rich Girl.Five costume changes followed in the next 90 minutes as Stefani performed hits from both the current album and her debut offering Love, Angel, Music Baby.

Vocals were often drowned out by the music, but songs such as Wind It Up and Danger Zone proved popular and Early Winter was well delivered.

Stefani also enjoyed a good rapport with the crowd.

A giant screen propelled the images back, while the on-stage crew gave able support with their energetic dancing.

The highlight for many was seeing Stefani up close, as in a “Cool” ending, she ventured into the crowd to sing the hit song.

I totally disagree about any positive review, this concert looked cheap and unrehearsed. loads of people were leaving before the end. The reviewer for this concert needs to be fired. Madonna and Kylie concerts are worth the money, this was not. even Britney’s performance on MTV was more entertaining

I don’t know what concert Roger was at but it clearly wasn’t Gwen Stefani!! It was fantastic, she has an amazing voice and puts on a great show. It was my first time seeing her live and I can’t wait to see her the next time she’s in town

I totally disagree! coming from a non-stefani fan, i reluctantly went with the wife, and was plesently surprised! Gwen looked absolutley stunning, with fantastic energy about the stage.
    Well done to everyone involved!!

Gwen’s Concert was amazing! Her voice and performance were outstanding, and along with a real down to earth attitude you couldnt ask for more. Credit also goes to her dancers who are very talented. You could tell a lot of time and effort had gone into the show. Well worth the money!!
