Cannock started their Premier Division campaign with a bang – romping to an easy win at newly promoted Bowdon.
Cannock are bidding to wrestle the title off rivals Reading this season and made the perfect start with a stroll in Cheshire.
Goals from Hardeep Jawanda, Andrew Brogdon, Simon Ramsden and Gareth Andrew sealed an easy victory.
Cannock were three up after 13 minutes and never relinquished control to send a message to their Premier League rivals.
Stourport kept up their fine start to the season in National North after fighting back to claim a spirited 4-4 draw in a thrilling clash with Formby.
Mark Moss equalised an early Formby goal with a penalty corner before they fell 3-1 behind in the closing stages.
Penalty corners from Moss and Imran Yousuf levelled matters, but after they conceded again it was Phil Lashford who saved the day with a late leveller.
Elsewhere our clubs were getting in their final preparations before the league campaign kicks off next week.
Walsall beat an understrength Old Wulfrunians side 4-1 thanks to a second half flurry of goals.
The scores were level at half-time after Tom Pickersgill equalised for Wulfs, but injuries left them down to nine men for much of the second period.
Wolverhampton ended their pre-season programme with a 5-3 home defeat against higher division opponents Mansfield.
The home side started with purpose and raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to a brace from Kaval Jabbal.
Mansfield pulled one back and suffered a further blow when Matt Mills was shown a yellow card – but battled well and took the lead through man of the match Chris Finch.
However, the visitors’ class and extra man began to count and they finished with four good goals to win the game.
