Showcase is just the job
Thursday 20th September 2007, 11:00AM BST.
Dozens of businesses have signed up for the acclaimed Express & Star-organised Jobs Careers Training showcase – and more are joining the list daily.
Sponsored by the city’s university, the widely supported two-day event is to be staged at Wolverhampton’s Dunstall Park Racecourse early next month.
A wide variety of businesses, public organisations and the Armed Forces are among the many job-providers who will be represented at one of the biggest events of its kind in the region.
It is being staged on October 3 and 4, starting at 9.30am each day, and will include an exhibition of jobs on offer with most of the businesses taking part.
The event will provide guidance on training opportunities for everyone from school leavers to parents returning to work after raising a family, those looking to re-train for a career change or to get involved in voluntary work.
The university itself will have advisers on hand throughout the two days, and The Wolf radio will be broadcasting live.
High Street names will include Phones 4U, Homeserve, supermarket giant Waitrose and The Body Shop. The financial sector and industry will also be represented, as will local authorities, colleges and West Midlands Police.
Information about full or part-time apprenticeships in the construction industry, including bricklaying, plumbing, plastering, painting and decorating, gas fitting and electrical services, will be prominent at the event.
Job seekers are being advised to have personal information, such as up-to-date CVs, with them. Anyone who wants to visit the exhibition can take advantage of priority registration by logging onto the website www.jobscareerstraining.co.uk
