Wulfs made the long trip out to Herefordshire to play Wellington and withered in the heat as they conceded three late goals after James Skedgel had given them a 65th minute lead.

Wulfs were quick out of the blocks and went close to finding an opener as early as the 4th minute.

A corner from the right was punched out to the feet of Steve Rich who laid the ball off for Robbie Hubball to hit a low shot from the edge of the area that flew just the wrong side of the upright.

Wellington were awarded a free kick in a promising position in the 10th minute but Matt Williams0‚8 effort flew harmlessly over Danny Tipton’s crossbar.

Defences were on top for the majority of the first half as both teams found it hard to create any meaningful chances but Wulfs grew stronger as the interval loomed and forced Wellington keeper Mark Priday into a couple of saves.

The first, from Danny Tipton’s long free kick, saw Dave Hayhurst pressure the defenders before hooking a shot goalwards but Priday collected with ease.

The second came after Steve Rich had crossed from the right and Simon Hardle nutmegged his marker on the edge of the area before hitting a low shot that was gathered well down low by Priday.

Wellington hit back with Matt Williams hitting a low shot that was gathered well by Danny Tipton.

After what was a really dour first half, the second could only get better and Wulfs created a good opening just three minutes in.

Ricky Anslow was the instigator helping the ball on to his strike partner Dave Hayhurst but keeper Mark Priday was out quickly to smother Hayhurst’s close range shot on the turn.

Kenny Styles was introduced into the game for Wellington in the 58th and should have made a big impact six minutes later.

Wulfs lost possession in midfield and Matt Williams was freed down the right and he crossed into the middle where Styles sent his free header over the bar with the goal at his mercy.

This miss was made to look worse one minute later when Wulfs took the lead.

Steve Rich released Robbie Hubball down the right flank and his cross struck the hand of a defender.

James Skedgel made no mistake from the spot.

Rather than feel sorry for themselves, Wellington rallied and found an equaliser three minutes later.

A free kick from out wide on the left was headed back across goal by Lee Mussell for Dale Withers to guide home from close range.

Wulfs hit back and went close to regaining their lead on two separate occasions when first Steve Rich and then Ricky Anslow were both centimetres away from converting teasing crosses.

This time it was Wulfs who were made to pay as Wellington took the lead in the 79th minute.

Winger Matt Williams stripped his man before advancing towards Danny Tipton and going down under challenge.

The referee gave a penalty which Matt Williams took himself and despatched with ease.

Ricky Anslow went close to restoring parity with a low shot that was pushed away by Mark Priday before Wellington tied up the three points one minute into injury time.

Wulfs again lost possession allowing Kenny Styles to carry forward, turn inside and out before curling a shot past Danny Tipton.
