Greenhill 1 Enville Athletic 1
Monday 3rd September 2007, 1:31PM BST.
On Saturday newly promoted Greenhill FC opened their season in Mid Com Div 2 with a draw at home against Enville Athletic.
In a tight but entertaining first half Greenhill had the best chance with new signing Dean Palmer shooting wide.
Nick Harrold opened the scoring for GFC 10 minutes after the break with a low diving header off a Jim Mattin corner.
Greenhill took the onus in the game thereafter but conceded a sloppy goal midway through the second half and Enville got back into the game thereafter.
Greenhill stood firm defensively with man of the match Richard Bell excelling in defence and keeper Mark Whitehouse pulling off a good save with his legs late on.
Greenhill are awaiting news of next weeks fixture at the time of writing.

I watched the game and in spells i was impressed with the new look Greenhill, especially the captain Jim Mattin. I cant believe what manager Steve Newton ws doing with his substitutions, cost them two valuable points !

I was not impressed with Newton’s team selection fir Greenhill, who appear to be severely missing their dynamic right back from last season. In my opinion it is time for Newton to just go.

Stuttering start for Greenhill in a game they should have won, but nearly lost. Some good performances from Mick Harrold & Aca Barrsnak from midflield. Couldn’t beleive Sub Wayne Werthers couldn’t find his shirt when he was told by Steve Huwston that he was going on. Huwston said he had a problem. We need Captain Jimmy Mattin fully fit as he looked lathargic and un-interested.

The 6-0 defeat to Castle Vale was a disgrace and after last season’s dissappointing season manager Newton must be living on borrowed time. He keeps persevering with Captain Mattin but it looks like his legs have gone. The quicker he gets Dominic Horton back to marshall the defence the better. The one good thing was the matchday programme – I thought it was excellent.

I bought a programme for a quid and it was missing most of the pages and contained utter nonsense.
