Forest Falcons
Friday 17th August 2007, 10:48AM BST.
The club was founded in 1977 and was originally called Stourbridge Falcons until it became a feeder club for Nottingham Forest Football club a few years later and became Forest Falcons.
The link to Nottingham Forest has long since past but the club has kept the name as opposed to reverting back to the original.
Up until last season the club crest was exactly the same as Forest’s but now incorporates a Falcon into the tree emblem.
The most famous player to have come through Forest Falcons ranks was Lee Sharpe who of course went on to play for Manchester United and England during the nineties.
Today the club has 17 teams spread across all age groups from under 7s to under 17s with the majority playing in the Stourbridge and District Youth League a couple of teams are based in the Stourport Youth League and the under 17s girls are this year entering the Central Warwickshire league.
The last three seasons have been lean in terms of honours for Falcons sides but we are hoping to put that right in the 07/08 season.
Last season the under 12s East were runners up in both the league and merit shield final for division 2, under 12s West were merit shield winners in division 1 and the under 17′s girls won the Management Cup in the Shropshire girls league.
Our official home pitches are at Leavale in Stourbridge with two eleven aside and two mini soccer pitches.
Our recently elected chairman is Bryn Nicholls and he replaces Steve who sadly had to step down at the end of last season after a number of years dedicated service to the club due to ill health.
Bridgett Smith is secretary and works tirelessly behind the scenes not only for this club but also as a committee member for the Stourbridge league.
This is the Falcons 30th year and we are hoping to cap it off with a successfull bid for Charter Standard status and as such Mick Haydon has stepped forward as our Charter Standard co-ordinator.
