Morgan more hands on – Mick

Thursday 9th August 2007, 6:01PM BST.

morganmick.jpgWolves boss Mick McCarthy believes Steve Morgan’s takeover will give added impetus to their push for the Premiership.

The Molineux chief reckons Morgan will be a more ‘hands on’ owner than his predecessor and is looking forward to a long working relationship with the new Wolves chairman.

“No doubt there will be an added enthusiasm because he will be more hands on than Sir Jack has been over the last 12 months that I’ve been in charge,” he said.

“But from my perspective I see it as somebody else coming in with that drive and determination that Sir Jack had to take the club forward.

“That is not saying anything bad to Sir Jack, but maybe his ownership had run his course.

“It is a marvellous gesture he’s made and I am eternally grateful for him to giving me the chance to manage Wolves.”

McCarthy admits it is a relief for the takeover deal to completed before the club kicks off their Championship campaign against Watford on Saturday.

“I think if we’d have started the season and there had been any sort of uncertainty, people might have started talking about it and I didn’t want that.

“We want to get on with the football now and to start talking about that.

“I’m pleased because on Saturday everything is sorted – Steve Morgan is the owner, Jez is the chief executive and I’m the manager.

“We can all crack on and try to better what we did last season.”

Morgan has scotched talk of handing McCarthy a promotion ultimatum this season, but both believe promotion is a realistic goal.

The property magnate has pledged to back McCarthy in the transfer market.

“From my point of view we have been going ahead and investing in players and that is because Steve is coming in – there is no other reason for that,” he said.

Firstly , every true Wolves supporter should be 100% grateful to Sir Jack for saving our favourite club from extinction . Now , with all the changes in place and a real feeeling of optimism in the air , let the whole team go flat out ALL SEASON LONG to show its own appreciation by going straight up into the top division where it belongs !

His name is Morgan not Yeung the only person oviously worried about having his team picked for him each saturday is Mr Brucie Bonus of Brum.
The reference is to SJH of course being in the bahamas rather than in Wolverhampton. And to manage day to day affairs on a hands on style you need to at least live in Cheshire, from where the short journey to the molinuex can be made in a small private jet as opposed to a big one!
    Got it happy!?

I can’t understand for the life of me why WBA supporters add comments to what is clearly a report on the prgress of Wolves. Clearly we’re far more interesting and there’s more going on than in Boing Boing land . .

A new era, a fresh challenge, we’re all smiling and we love it. . . Come on you Wolves . . !!

As for WBA who cares . . I’ve heard B&Q have made an offer for their empty stadium.

Great news. Lets be cautious though. Money does not = success.

Togethereness good finanacila management and a good solid team ethic does.

Also you ad in the culture of Wolves being young and hungry. Bobs your uncle.

THings are looking very rosy at the moment lets just hope this time it happens for us.
