Three injured in M6 crash

Saturday 4th August 2007, 9:26AM BST.

A car driver and two passengers were taken to hospital after being involved in a collision with two articulated lorries on the M6 near Walsall this morning.
A stretch of the southbound motorway, just after Junction 10, was shut for around an hour-and-a-half following the accident at 4.30am. Three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and a medical team from Walsall Manor Hospital were sent to the scene amid fears the car driver and passengers were seriously injured.
Murray MacGregor, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “All three were taken to Walsall Manor Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
A spokeswoman for Central Motorway Police  said latest reports suggested the occupants of the car received minor injuries, despite the apparent seriousness of the accident.

I passed the remains of this accident a few hours after it occured. Truly, I have never seen a more horrific scene. How relieved I am to find that there were no fatalities; after seeing the remains of the crushed Vauxhall Corsa that the injured were in, it saddened me enourmously as I truly believed that no one could possibly have escaped that wreckage. Thank goodness that all the involved are safe :)
