Harriers sign QPR defender
Monday 30th July 2007, 11:54AM BST.
Kidderminster have signed teenage defender John Munday from QPR on a one-year contract.
The 19-year-old has been taken on after impressing in a recent trial, but three more trialists have been allowed to leave.
Munday has spent two years as a trainee at Loftus Road before being released this summer and he arrived on trial at Aggborough a week ago.
He played in yesterday’s 1-1 draw against FC United at Aggborough.
Manager Mark Yates said: “John will provide good competition for Mark Creighton and Stuart Whitehead and it was important to bring someone in to do that.
“We’ve got competition in all areas of the team now, which is something we’ve been looking for.
“John is young, and I think we’ve now got 11 players who are under 22 to go with the experienced lads.”
Meanwhile, Yates has told former Doncaster defender Rob Pacey and ex-Leamington midfielder Jon Adams and former Cheltenham midfielder Shane Paul that they will not be offered deals.
But French trialist Amar Boukhalfa, who has appeared in several trial matches, will continue to train with the club despite not being offered a contract.
Yates said: “He has come over from France to try to earn a living from the game.
“At the moment we can’t offer him anything but he will carry on training with us and we’ll try to help him.”
