Police confirmed today that two men had been arrested on suspicion of murder following the incident at 11.45pm on Wednesday.
A post mortem was taking place and officers were continuing to carry out forensic examinations at the scene.
Two men, aged 37 and 60, remained in police custody on suspicion of murder.
Force spokesman Steve Garey said: “Police inquiries are at an early stage but it is believed there was some sort of argument or dispute which led to the disorder.”
Samantha Glear, landlady at the Samson and Lion, said the trouble did not involve customers from the pub.
The death comes weeks after another man died after being stabbed on the street in Bilston in broad daylight.
Uriel Johnson, aged 21, died from a knife wound 10 days after the attack at 12.50pm on July 3 in Wellington Road, Bilston.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested and is helping police with their inquiries.
