An excellent festival.Enjoyed it all immensely. Well done to DPA for the organisation of the weekend – from the first class music right down to all the housekeeping facilities!! Just an observation, though. The voting system for the ‘Rock the Castle’ seems very unfair. It seems to me that as long as a band have enough people there to vote for them, then they will be selected for the next round, with the further possibility of appearing at The Robin 2 Club in Bilston. The quality of the music and the talent of the band seems to count for very little. Also the last band played at 10pm but voting closed at 9.30pm before the last two bands had played. This suggests that people were only voting for their friends or school and not on the music itself. Is this just a financial gain for DPA?

i don’t like the voting system. by band was automatically put through even thought we was no were near going to win the radio comp. However JJK won…they are not even n education! they should not be at RTC! bands can’t do it unles they r ALL in full time ed but somehow they got the leading slot and te radio winners the next day…hmmm

    Organiser

I would like to say that there was no actual voting process for this years Rock The Castle and that there was no next round to be achieved. The voting process was for bands to take part in a seperate show. This show was organised by Radio WM as part of their “talent search”. DPA had automatically put through 5 bands, all of which were the last bands on each stage, in order for the voting process to be finished by 9:30pm so that voting slips could be counted and the results announced. Therefore, the bands who played after 9:00pm didn’t need votes!! Yes, bands who had more people with them obviously recieved more votes but as voting goes this is what generally happens. I must point out that there is no financial gain for DPA at this event!!

I really enjoyed Arcadian Kicks and ASBO. When they went on the atmosphere was a bit crap but they were both excellent. I.’ll look them up.
