New offices and trendy apartments could transform a rundown industrial estate in Stourport and bring new jobs to the area.

The 1950s and 60s workshops are in a poor state and the site has failed to attract any interest from developers for years.

However Stourport-based Key Homes (Midlands) has now come forward with plans to improve the area.

Bosses say the whole site has been neglected and believe their project will help breathe new life into the area and kickstart further regeneration schemes if it is approved.

Asbestos has been found in the existing buildings which has also stalled development. Under the plans submitted by Key Homes the new buildings would have offices on the first floor creating at least 20 jobs.

On the first and second floor 14 two bedroom apartments are planned. The office and apartment blocks would be red brick and stone with concrete tile roofs.

Developers says the whole scheme is the start of a blueprint for the whole of the Baldwin Road area and will act as a catalyst to encourage further development from property owners.

A planning application has now been submitted to Wyre Forest District Council.

A report to support the project states: “The proposed development will bring about a much-needed injection of capital to this area. The appearance of the development will improve confidence and encourage further development.

“It will also provide an initial framework which could if required for the basis on which adjacent areas can be redeveloped.”
