Members get Wembley chance

Monday 21st May 2007, 11:58AM BST.

wd2118779albion-wolves-16.jpgThe remaining tickets for Albion’s play-off final clash at Wembley today went on sale to club members after four days of sales to season ticket holders.

Fans who paid £10 for annual membership were able to buy one ticket for next Monday’s  encounter with Derby County.

The club has warned non-members not to call the hotline as they will not be sold a ticket.

Club spokesman John Simpson said: “As the club forecast, all season ticket holders were given plenty of time to claim their two tickets during the first four days of business.”

Yesterday was the last day season ticket holders could purchase their seats and club officials said it had been the quietest day on the phones. Up until Saturday, the hotline was jammed.

But from Saturday evening through to last night’s close of business at 10pm, the ticket hotline queue did not once reach full capacity.

By midday on Saturday more than half of the 33,000 tickets had been sold.

Season ticket holders who booked tickets on Thursday can start collecting from tomorrow, those who booked on Friday can start collecting from Wednesday and fans who got seats on Saturday or Sunday can start collecting from Thursday.

Members who successfully book a ticket will be able to collect from Friday.

The hotline number is 08700 662822.

The hotline tells you to ring back because the queue is full. You have to listen to other messages before you know. I’ve tried it a dozen times today and will keep trying. If it’s this tough for members, what chance the others? I hope all real fans get there, but I’m beginning to lose hope.

Wembley just has a message saying they are transferring you to someone but then cuts you off. I’ve tried it twice. It adds insult to injury when fans are allocated so few tickets.

i cant belive that albion only sold 16000 tickets by saturday lunch time! at this rate they wont sell them in time for the match! events like glastonbury sell 100000 plus tickets in hours just shows you that selling online as well would have solved alot of problems! i do feel sorry for non members tho!

I agree with what mike buckland says, on the phone since 7.00am.
also Bristol Rovers getting 35,000 tickets and ticket prices are also a lot cheaper yet again we the true fans are being fleeced(if I actually get through) poor show FA
every time you get through you are also paying premium prices for your phone calls to be told that the queue is full and to try again later

I got into the phone queue after numerous attempts only to be told after almost an hour hanging on that i could’nt have a ticket cause i was not a Season ticket holder or Member. When do we (ordinary) supporters get the chance of a ticket. Come on we support the Baggies week in, week out. GIVE US A CHANCE!

I can’t believe all the moaning about not getting tickets, If your an Away Or home season ticket holder or a shareholder you DESERVE to get a ticket as you have paid your money up-front all season.

The bandwagon jumpers all want tickets now were at Wembley. Not been to a game all season, now they think they deserve a coveted Wembley Ticket. Forget It !!

I agree with Chris, why can’t we buy tickets online, or even queue up at the TO? Albion say that there wasn’t enough time to put these measures into place, but Derby have managed it, lets just hope we get the win at Wembley and can put this behind us!

im not a season ticket holder nor a member and i cant get tickets but what do you mean we all want to jump on the band wagon ive been a season ticket holder for the past 5 seasons and this season i didnt renew my season ticket because i cant afford it any more but ive been to around 15 home games and several away trips including the fa cup to middlesbrough. i feel they should let non members purchase ticktets aswell as long as they have been to a certain amount of home matches. and i didn’t purchase membership this season as i felt we would of gone up automatically and we never have a sell out crowd so there was no need to purchase tickets before the general public

Why on earth would a family of four season ticket holders, need eight tickets? And why would a family of four who book through a single member only be able to get one? How does this reward anybody? Derby allowed one ticket to each STH and Queue/phone or buy online for the rest? I know people who NEVER go to a single game that are going to Wembley via a relative, it will be full of dotty aunties and other non fanatics. £33,000 earned from ticket booking fees and double that from the phone lines? Well done Albion. Another Winner

Why did they let season ticket holders have 2 tickets each? One Season ticket should mean one
Wembley ticket!! I have heard instances of STH buying their full allocation and then selling the ones they don’t want for a profit!!! The Club have tried to reward fans loyalty but to my mind, this defeats the object. The whole episode is a farce!!

Do you realise that every time you get the recorded message you are paying for the it, why dont they just give out the engaged tone when all lines are busy, which would be free, or is this just another way to rip fans off!!

One of my mates has been corporate member at baggies for several years, this season they didn’t renew the 6 tickets @ £1200 each and decided to do several packages including match day sponsorship, 2 players kit sponsorship, baggies fixture list and year planner sponsorship. They have missed four games all season, every match through corporate tickets. At the end of all this, it means they have no membership and number, and no season ticket. The club has told them they have no right to claim a ticket. Yet season ticket holders can have two and give one to any body, and also they hear about people who are getting ten to two twenty tickets from insiders in the club. Is this fair?? They are going but have had to pay £285.00 on corporate tickets, these are available anyone by the way.

They intend to pull out of sponsorship forever

    What do you think?

It was a simply arrangement to get tickets fo up Wembley. Thats why I am a season ticket holder. I am fed up with the people jumping on the band wagon saying we have been to lots of games. Just get a season ticket and stop going on.

Today i’ve rung up i think over a thousand times this morning without getting into the queue when i should have been revising for an exam which i think i now have failled. Thanks ticket office i doubt i’ll get a wembley ticket and i’ve got a resit in the summer marvellous. The club management are a joke

Well I bought us season tickets a few months ago for next season. Being a dimwit I hung on the line for 2 hours on thursday to be told that I had to be a season ticket holder for the present one and to ring back Monday.

I spent 4 hours today only to the be told that our membership numbers were for next season not this one. I don’t get it as we go to the match pretty much every week and they always ask us for that membership number that I gave!!!

6 hours on permanent redial….I dread to think what that cost me.

I was asked at the end of all that how many games I’d been to as they were taking peoples numbers and may phone back if there are any tickets left.

So do they go on general sale or not?

    (sorry for massive rant!)

Wembley have 3 packages available. £99 for a premium ticket and free Kiosk food(burgers hot dogs etc) £149 middle tier tickets in the derby end with 3 course meal and drinks, or £199 3 course meal (in a better restaurant) with drinks around the royal box / team benches area.

Their number is 0844 980 8001 and chose option 2 for club wembley. If you chose option 1 you get into a queueing system and eventually get cut off. It literally took 5 minutes to book from start to finish.

There are many reasons why people dont buy season tickets , but would happily supply a fair number of stubs both home and away.
The question i want answered is why today ive got villa fans telling me they have tickets for the albion final , purely to see the new stadium ! its a disgrace , well done albion
