Raffle idea’s just the ticket

Saturday 19th May 2007, 11:50AM BST.

wd2122355baggies-1-pm-18.jpgA Baggies fan was so fed up with pals arguing over his spare Wembley tickets he has decided to raffle them off for charity.

Graham Webster and his family are all season ticket holders and have got eight tickets for the play-off final.

But with four tickets going spare, they soon found friends and relatives were fighting over who should get them. To avoid any more arguments they have now decided to raffle the tickets off to raise cash for Mary Stevens Hospice, Stourbridge, and the Stourbridge branch of the RSPCA.

Graham said: “Me and my wife and two daughters are all season ticket holders so were all entitled to buy two tickets each.

“The four of us are going to Wembley, which obviously leaves four tickets spare.

“We were having a lot of friends phoning up and asking if they could buy them off us but it would have caused major arguments and we didn’t want that.

“We thought the best thing to do would be to raffle them off and raise some money for charity at the same time. I am hoping we will sell at least 500 raffle tickets.”

The four tickets will be raffled in pairs. Those who want to be in with a chance of winning a place at the new Wembley can buy their raffle tickets from Fitness Factory 2 in Market Street, Stourbridge or Fitness Factory in Bradley Road, Wollaston, or phone 01384 444642.

Tickets will cost £1 each.

The draw will be made at half-time during Liverpool’s Champions League final on Wednesday May 23 at Fitness Factory in Bradley Road.

Thousands of supporters have been left frustrated after the Wembley hotline went into meltdown.

The line was open to season ticket holders at 7am on Thursday, but thousands of calls went unanswered as the phone system failed to deal with levels of demand.

Fans have criticised the club for allowing season ticket holders two seats each and for not using an external ticketing company as opponents Derby County have.

The Wembley hotline number for season ticket holders is 08700 66 28 22.

So if he only wanted 4 tickets why did he buy 8? there’s gonna be 1,000′s of regular fans not able to buy tickets because season ticket holders can buy 2 tickets. Why 2? So they can give or sell them to there mates who never go?

well i got 20 tickets with me mates (10 season tickets) but they’ve all gone to friends – most of whom have attended every game with us this season but paid on the gate instead of upfront. i totally agree that if he only needed 4 then buying 8 and having four spares to raffle off is a bit ridiculous!

as for fans moaning about the albions arrangements, i went on the derby site yesterday and their fans have totally abused the system (STH’s were supposed to have 1 titcket each but it turns out some have been getting loads)

it doesn’t matter how things are done, some people will always moan! i’d literally just got out of the hawthorns on wednesday night when i heard two blokes moaning about the cost of wembley tickets!!

as wolves fan i cant help but laugh,

but i know if i was in that situation i would be pissed off if couldnt secure a ticket, say you have approx 20k season ticket holders buy 2 each 40k, thought you only got 32k(may be wrong) it dont add up, and isnt fair, should be based on loyalty points i.e sth n away match regualrs, then sth, then free for all, not bob from down the road going to his 1st game in 10years going because uncle dave a season ticket holder

Graham Webster has done nothing wrong
he has got what the club have allowed him
people should be pointing the blame at wba
he paid his money up front at the start of the season so why should`nt he have his maximum ticket allocation
lets concentrate on the albion getting promoted instead of arguing about tickets
    come on you baggies
