Father and son farmers from Penkridge are licking their way to 15 minutes of fame as the stars of a television advert.

Steve and Gareth Acreman feature in the latest Müller adverts licking the lids of yoghurt pots.

They auditioned for the parts after hearing about the chance as they supply milk for the Market Drayton-based company.

Steve, aged 52, from Pool Farm, Levedale, and his son Gareth, 27, who also runs a farm in nearby Dunston, were whisked off to London for a three-day film shoot following a successful audition in Manchester.

They auditioned for the parts after hearing about the chance as they supply milk for the Market Drayton-based company.

Steve, aged 52, from Pool Farm, Levedale, and his son Gareth, 27, who also runs a farm in nearby Dunston, were whisked off to London for a three-day film shoot following a successful audition in Manchester.

One hundred ‘Lid Lickers’, aged one to 100, from across the country star in the advert after the yoghurt and dessert brand launched a search for people who love the taste of Müller so much that they lick the lid. The company says it wanted to show how these people then apply this same “love-of-life” philosophy to everything they do.

Steve, who hails from Wolverhampton, said: “We didn’t think we’d got a chance because lots of people go to these auditions with professional acting experience.

“We thought it would be a laugh though so just went for it. We were stunned but delighted to get through.

“It was a fantastic experience and we made loads of friends at the shoot who we hope to keep in touch with.

“Just taking part and meeting all the people involved was worth it let alone appearing on national television.” Steve, who grew up in Ashmore Park, Wednesfield, says he does not come from a farming background but it is all he wanted to do growing up.

Gareth, a former pupil at Wolgarston High School in Penkridge, chose to to follow in his father’s footsteps.

The pair both have contracts to supply gallons of milk they produce to the main Müller factory in Shropshire.

The yoghurt giant, which employs more than 1,000 people in the UK, also has a major distribution depot based at Primepoint 14, near junction 14 of the M6, in Stafford.

Chris McDonough, marketing director for Müller, said: “This exciting campaign was about finding real people who epitomise the Müller range. We have found 100 people who are fun, full of energy and have a positive outlook on life and who share one passion – yoghurt.”
